Mon. 5/25 - Sun. 5/31

Monday is a holiday and there is no school. To us, it's Memorial day but I think it's some sort of holiday here in Dominica too. The store underneath us is closed. We didn't make any plans for the day. I half thought about going to the pool or beach but I really don't feel like it. I really need to tackle the sink full of dishes. I HATE doing dishes by hand. I haven't figured out how to stay on top of them. I do pretty good at rinsing them off though. I miss my dear friend the dishwasher!!

There's a bunch of random junk under our stairs out back behind the store. The kids had visions for the junk and have used the balcony next to ours as their little play house. The apartment next to ours is vacant. Imagination is a good thing. They are being quite creative!

Lexi thought it would be fun to put Emma in a mini cart at the grocery store. Emma loved it!

At the family lounge one day all the kids were eating on the couch and watching TV. Looking at them made me smile so I quickly took a picture before anyone moved! Haha!

The elders came over for dinner on Wednesday and had the kids write nice words about a sibling. They were challenged to be more kind to each other. They are hard to read but it was nice that they were thinking kind thoughts about each other.

She likes to steal my glasses. I think they look cuter on her.

Emma and I went for a walk and she loved exploring campus!

After a bath her hair was sticking up a little. It's growing! :)

This girl loves wearing big shoes.

On Friday we went with a group to In.Light.In. It is a Christian ministry group. They take lunch to local children, share a bible lesson and play. This little local girl "taught" Emma to kick a ball. It was fun watching them chase the ball around. They both wanted it!

I wish this picture showed her face better! She was SO happy she had the ball. Little thief! Hehehe!

Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening there is Boot Camp where a bunch of people get together and do crazy hard workouts. If I didn't have 4 kids I'd like to think I'd participate. We were getting ready to leave campus and the kids saw them by the family lounge and jumped right in doing lunges.

LOVE LOVE LOVE a sleeping baby on my chest! I adore this girl!

On Sunday Isaac's long pants were in the dirty clothes and he couldn't find short black socks and didn't want to wear his sandals... I didn't see what he was wearing until I came outside and he said it looked like he was wearing tights. Then made this sad face.I almost feel bad about this picture but I thought his sad face was actually pretty cute. I don't think he was permanently scarred. He really seemed just fine after that... I love this kid!

Mon. 5/18 - Sun. 5/24

Monday I talked my landlord's wife about the internet not working and she said her husband is out of town and will be most of the week. She doesn't know anything about internet. Mark's sure it's just an easy fix but...
We found that Emma has a molar tooth on her bottom left that came through and appears to have another one coming in. She has been a little extra cranky lately so that must be it.

We picked up FOUR pieces of mail today. It was weird to have mail.  I bought a "milkshake" to share with the kids. Before we got to them I let Emma have some. She did NOT want to share.

We typically see at least one cow/bull in some random place everyday.

Emma likes when we walk by these barking dogs.

I love the orange flowers on these trees.

This is the hill we walk up to head home everyday.

Because we don't have internet we stayed on campus late so the kids could work on their learning program IXL. Of course they had a hard time staying focused in the family lounge and I didn't want to fight. Eventually, we made it home and had dinner. Before bed the kids were playing with a jump rope and I showed them how to do limbo. We were having fun until Isaac hit his head hard on the corner of the little coffee table!! Immediately I grabbed him and held him close without even knowing where he had hit. Then I pulled him away to see a nice gash on his forehead and called Mark. He hurried home and we ended up calling an emergency number that sent a security pickup truck to take Mark and Isaac to the clinic on campus. Isaac was excited to ride in the security vehicle. They decided not to do any stitches. I'm glad he didn't hit his eye!

Wednesday I couldn't get Emma to take a nap which was really strange. Probably because of those molars coming in. She would fall asleep on my shoulder but I couldn't lay her down successfully. So, I decided to take a nap with her. Not a bad plan. It was nice except I kept waking up afraid I had overslept to go meet the kids for lunch.

Since I was unable to make bread this morning we went to "the shacks" for lunch and got chicken strips and seasoned fries. After we ate we hung out with some ladies in Mark's class that enjoyed talking with the kiddos. At one point Kari fell and another one of Mark's classmates we knew rushed over. He asked if she wanted an ice cream or a cookie. (His kids are in the states. He misses them and enjoys seeing our kiddos.) She went with him and ended up with a homemade cookie ice cream sandwich that was being sold near where we were sitting. Lucky lady. I should have fallen off the bench! Ha. I don't think it would've had the same effect.
Lexi and Isaac had a science fair today where they presented power points on the projects they had done. It was a bit anti-climatic to me since we did the projects at home weeks ago.

Before bed we played with my phone and took tons of silly pictures just for fun. Most of them are terribly blurry.

Thursday morning I had my first real RSO meeting. I tend to run late for everything but this time I made it to the building with a couple minutes to spare. I took Emma out of the stroller and headed up to the second floor. There I found the rooms occupied and my fellow board members no where to be seen. GRRRR! I was sure they had posted a change of location on Facebook but I hadn't gotten the memo because our internet isn't working!! I was frustrated. I sat down in the hall with Emma and pulled out my phone and waited for it to connect with the internet on campus so I could figure out where I needed to be...   I made it eventually...

RSO has a free Roseau trip at the beginning of each semester and Friday was the day this semester. We left around 8:30 and got back about 1pm. It was crazy but I ended up with the things I was needing to get. When we got back it seemed that Emma was constantly getting hurt. She bumped her sweet little head so many different times throughout the rest of the day. Thankfully none of the falls were too substantial and she is fine. I just felt bad for her.
Emma is impressing us as she learns to communicate in different ways. A gal came into the family lounge to get something. She asked Emma for a high five which she didn't want to give. Emma made gestures at her as she backed away. She was telling the girl to come follow her. When they got to the door Emma patted the door and waved bye. She had "told" the girl to leave!! It was kind of rude and absolutely hilarious!!! What a smart little stinky! :)
Our landlord is back and we finally have internet again!!! It was a loonnngggg week without it. It's how we communicate. Mark can't study at home and the kids aren't able to do their homework without it.

Saturday I tried to flood my apartment!! I started filling the washing machine with the garden hose then walked away and FORGOT it! It was pretty exciting. Mark stepped out of our room into water uhhhhhhh..... That's a problem. We grabbed brooms and started sweeping it out the door. I grabbed dirty clothes to stop the water from going down the hall. The water was about halfway through the kitchen. Thankfully it didn't cause any real damage. It was just a big water mess! Never a dull moment! :)

Mon. 5/11 - Sun. 5/17

Monday was the first day of 2nd semester and back to school for the kids. Kari is now staying at school the entire day instead of only half day. She is thrilled.
I took Emma to the ELC (early learning center) and hung out with her for nearly an hour before I left her to go to the gym for an hour. She was only ok for about 20 minutes and then was crying and needy the rest of the hour. It was her normal nap time so I'm not too surprised. I'm not sure what I'm going to do!!

After lunch Mark and went to check out an ice cream place called Che's that had been closed over the break. We got a "double scoop" but you can have 4 smaller scoops. :) It was very enjoyable.

Tuesday I took Emma to the ELC at 8 and left her happily playing with toys. I went to the gym with friends. I had an RSO orientation meeting but before the meeting started I went and got my sad baby from the ELC. I'm now in a huge debate if I really want to leave her there or not. She's been taking a great nap typically from about 9 to 11;30 when I wake her up so we can go to campus. I would be putting her in the ELC from 8-12 and I don't think she's going to be able to sleep very well there...

Wednesday I woke up  at 5;30 ON PURPOSE!! If you know me, I'm a night owl NOT a morning person. I decided to try exercising in the morning and maybe do this instead of having Emma in the ELC since that is my biggest reason for wanting her in there. I didn't take her to the ELC this morning. We went out for breakfast at Corner Cafe for Melanie's birthday. I ordered a yummy pecan Belgian waffle. I was surprised how good it was. As I walked home Emma screamed inconsolably the WHOLE way. It was not like her and I took it as a sign that it would be best to not have her do ELC this semester. Why mess up her awesome nap schedule? (I still do mess it up on occasion anyway. Like when we go out for a birthday breakfast.)

Thursday morning I went to The Tomato for an RSO social. It was nice. I ordered blueberry pancakes. They were simply normal pancakes with a pile of blueberries on top. There is a momma dog that hangs around the restaurant. Emma was SOO excited to get close to her. The dog laid on the ground and Emma seemed to try to tell the dog to get up and play. It was pretty cute. As I walked home a friend who is a member of Ross staff who has a vehicle saw me and offered us a ride home. I was so appreciative. I was cutting it close as it was to get home, get lunch ready and get back to campus. Later, I was walking on campus and saw a dog tied up to a picnic table outside a little coffee shop. I stepped in and asked if Emma could pet the dog. Most of the dogs we see around are strays and I don't want her touching them. It is crazy to me how much she seems to like dogs.

Friday I woke up early again to go exercise. It feels so crazy but if I can figure out how to get to bed early this may be a really good thing for me. I just hate waking up SO early!

My Mack N Snack aka Isaac learned how to make our morning Oatmeal Chocolate Banana Smoothie basically by himself.

Like father like son. Dad did this first and Isaac wanted to try.

We walk by a house that has a bunch of random little statues. The girls are sitting on a rocket.

Saturday there was a RSO kid's pool party with free passion fruit juice. We all loved the juice!
Afterwords I took the kids to Che's ice cream for the first time. YUMMY!

Right as Mark and I were ready to go to bed the power turned off. Which consequently means the fans turned off. NOOOO!!!!  It was so hot. Ick!

Sunday we didn't have internet at all. It was so strange. I wanted to work on blogging and Skype with family but couldn't. :(
