Mon,. 8/17 - Sun. 8/23 (need to add Boiling Lake photos)

Monday morning a group of us got together for a goodbye breakfast for Melody at La Flambeau.

I tried a new bread recipe today. It required hours of raising. It was good but I really like just using the quick "miracle bread" recipe I got off of Pinterest. It only takes about 1 hour from start to hot bread.

Tuesday was Mark's 2nd semester FINAL!! He was done at 4:30. It was about a 4 hour test! Ugh!

Lexi got done with her 2nd grade IXL!!!! YAY!!!

Snuggle time with Daddy after finals!

There is a tropical storm named Danny heading our way that may turn into a hurricane. That could get exciting... No one seems very worried.

Wednesday for my birthday I made the most DELICIOUS ice cream cake!! It was heavenly. There's a lady who has made it for a couple different events I've been to and I was so excited when she gave me the recipe. This may be my new favorite!! I felt really lucky IGA had vanilla ice cream in stock!

30 years!!! I can't believe it! I remember when I was young thinking I would NEVER be 30! It seemed too far in the future. And here I sit... 30 years old! I have 4 precious kids. My awesome hubby of 10 years is in medical school and we live on an island in the Caribbean!!!!! WOW! I never would have dreamed I would someday be right where I am right now. Life is good.

Looks like Google knows what day it is!

Thursday we all went with the prep school on a field trip. We didn't completely know what to expect with this hike. We thought we were going to Syndicate water falls but we were going on the Syndicate nature trail. We saw a 500 year old tree that has the insides decomposing so you could walk through the middle. There was a 700 year old tree we took a family picture with. The roots are impressive. We were hoping to be able to see a parrot! How cool would that be?? No such luck. There is really very little wildlife around here.

Friday Hurricane Danny has died back down from hurricane status to a tropical storm. It looks like we could expect it to hit us Sunday night through Monday night.

Saturday Mark and I headed a trip to BOILING LAKE!!!!! We all made it up there in just over 3 hours. I made it back down in 2 hours and 40 minutes. There were some in our group who made it back quicker and some slower. I think we all felt quite accomplished and super tired! Whoof! It was a rough, long, fun hike!

TONS OF PICS ON MARKS PHONE AND FB

Sunday school was good today as we discussed the Holy Ghost as a member of the Godhead. I appreciated the perspective the teacher gave as he talked about the "Gift of the Holy Ghost" or what we receive from the Holy Ghost through the Light of Christ. He is a person who helps us know of the truths of Christ. That may not make sense how I wrote it but it clicked a little for me and was good.

Update on Danny - The tropical storm looks like it may not even hit our island or maybe just the northernmost part. It has been raining off and on for most of the day but there's nothing unusual about that. I'm hoping we'll at least get a bit more rain from this storm but it seems we may be in the clear according to the updates I can find on-line...  We're prepared with lots of water and food and are lucky enough to have access to a generator if the power goes out. A full on hurricane sounded scary but a tropical storm sounded a bit exciting but nothing is a little disappointing.  Time will tell. Something may start up in the middle of the night and through tomorrow...
